Mad Action "Smile"

Occasionally you see a pop video that stays in your mind long after the chords of the song have faded. This is one such animal.
Taking it's theme from the Smile of the title, director James Odell finds faces in everything, taking us on a whistle-stop tour of 20th century art along the way. Magrite is rubbing shoulders with Picasso, Dali and pop art as one face melts into another, occasionally accompanied by a flight of butterflies.
This short is pulsing with energy and so richly detailed that you want to rewind it and watch it again to see what references and ideas you missed on the first fly past. The song is fine in a sub James Blunt kind of way, but the moving images are mesmerising.
